Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to the FileHustle mobile application (the "Application") developed by J. O. Apps (the "Service Provider"). The Application is provided on an "AS IS" basis.
Information Collection and Use
FileHustle is a local file-transfer tool. It doesn't collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data to the Service Provider — there are no accounts and no sign-in. Files move directly between your device and the device you choose, over the local WiFi network, and never pass through any server operated by the Service Provider or anyone else.
Your device's broadcast name (a made-up name like "Tidy Yak") is generated fresh each launch and never stored. Any nicknames you give nearby devices, and your recent transfer history, are saved only on your device and never leave it.
The only information collected automatically is crash and diagnostic information on iOS and Android, via Firebase Crashlytics (device model, operating system version, app version, and the crash's stack trace), used only to find and fix bugs. The Windows version of the Application doesn't use Crashlytics or any other crash-reporting service.
The Application does not use any advertising or analytics SDKs, and does not sell, rent, or share any information with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
Third-Party Services
The iOS and Android versions of the Application use the following third-party service:
- Firebase Crashlytics (a Google service), used only to collect the crash diagnostics described above, subject to Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).
The Windows version of the Application does not use any third-party services.
Data Retention Policy
Nicknames and transfer history live only on your device for as long as the Application remains installed. Deleting an entry within the Application removes it immediately. Uninstalling the Application removes all of its data from your device.
Security
There's no cloud account or server to be hacked — the biggest attack surface most apps have simply doesn't exist here. Transfers aren't separately encrypted beyond whatever protection your WiFi network already provides, so avoid sending files over open or untrusted public WiFi. On a private home or office network, only other devices on that same network can even see a transfer happening, and only if you choose to accept it.
Children's Privacy
The Application is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, since it collects no personal information at all beyond the automatic crash diagnostics described above.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the Application after changes are made constitutes acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
